Game Developer Mixer Event

Last night, I went to my first game developer mixer event at a local brewery called Game Craft! I had known about this brewery since my partner and I used to go there often when we lived quite close to it, but when I went to see if they’d be willing to put up my flyer about the linguist course I was teaching, they let me know about the mixer event with game developers that took place there every Thursday. Since I just started this new business, I knew that I had to go out and network.

With a little bit of liquid courage (their drinks are amazing), I got to chatting with the people showing up for the event. It was impressive seeing the different kinds of people that gathered, from in-game artists, programmers, engineers, IT, and even HR personnel! Being able to pitch my new business to people who understand the intricacies of localization in games was such a wonderful experience. The comments I received strengthened my resolve in providing services especially to the new, upcoming linguists out in the world, and I hope I can continue making a difference for them.

That being said, there were a lot of people that I didn’t get to speak to at the event, so I’ll definitely keep attending these mixers!
